The Love Of God is a traditional church hymn that was written by Frederick M. Lehman in the year 1917. The lyrics to this hymn inspired me to write a vocal jazz arrangement. It is based on a Jewish poem called the Haddamut. It is said that the third verse of this song was found on the wall of a patient's room in an insane asylum. This tale is what made this hymn famous.
